27.4.2023: Philipp Fischer @ Werkstattgespräche

On Thursday, 27.4.2023, Philipp Fischer will be our guest in the series “Demolition Man”.

Zurich. How to continue building?

“For 30 years our office has been building in the city of Zurich. Since that time, every 6th house has been demolished. Replacement building with the potential of redensification was the big issue. We were part of that demolition dynamic. I will talk about a few replacement new buildings and critically examine them, especially from an urban planning perspective. At the end of the lecture, I would like to use the Höckler school building competition in Manegg to show how we can continue to build with existing buildings in our city in the future.”

After an apprenticeship as a draughtsman, Philipp Fischer studied architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur, where he graduated in 1992. He was then enrolled as a student at the ETH Zurich with Marcel Meili for two years and founded the firm Enzmann + Fischer Architects in 1994 together with Christine and Evelyn Enzmann. Philipp Fischer has been active on juries and at various universities as a speaker and guest critic since 2000.

The event starts at 19:00 in our Zurich office at Geerenweg 2.
