15.12.2022: Urban Equipe @ BHSF Werkstattgespräche

The BHSF workshop talks of the Agenda #keepingswhatsgood follow with Sabeth and Antonia from Urban Equipe.

The Title of their lecture is “Right to Housing? Practice theses and fields of action against displacement”.

This evening will focus on the perspective of tenants, users and tenant movements. The current development in housing construction is not only ecologically but also socially questionable. The financial market-oriented urban development leads to the replacement of entire neighborhoods; precarious people serve as ‘shifting masses’ and thus end up in perpetuated ‘residential interim use biographies’; people who work for the basic supply of this city are visibly displaced from the city. We can only guess what social mortgage we are burdening ourselves with here. But there is resistance from different sides. This evening will discuss concrete theses on social sustainability in housing as well as invitations to action for new political practices.

Sabeth and Antonia are working in various contexts to make Zurich turn around and learn to understand and develop itself as a city for all. As individuals, they do not represent any specific organization, but speak against the background of a critique of the practice of replacement housing (www.beispiel-bergacker.ch), a commitment to a democratization of urban development and design www.urban-equipe.ch), as part of a young tenants movement (www.t.me/mietenplenumZH), from the urban policy debate on strategically deployed interim uses (www.zentralwaescherei.space), a bottom-up information project (www.mieten-marta.ch, IG: @mietenmarta), and much more.

The event will start at 7 pm in our Zurich office at Geerenweg 2.
