Together with SIMA | BREER, BHSF wins 2nd prize in the 2024 ‘Einfach Bauen’ competition organised by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. A former biscuit factory and the chapel extension of the existing hall of residence are being repurposed for the redensification of a student housing complex in the centre of Aachen. The aim of creating affordable housing in a simple design is being realised through precise interventions in the existing buildings with minimal demolition. The new residential units are developed typologically from the existing structure and derive their atmosphere from the visible layers of the existing building.
